About the artist
Patsy’s impressive talent as an artist is rooted in his west of Ireland surroundings and in his family’s long tradition of being able to repair all manner of vehicles. He comes from a local Galway family of Mechanics, Artists, and Sculptors who can literally turn their hand to anything and have an amazing ability to create sustainable beauty in the works they produce.
He is passionate about painting outdoors in all sorts of weather, using a vast array of pastel chalks and water colours to capture the stunning, everchanging colours in light that is typical of Connemara and of the City of Galway in all their hues and shades. Farrell paintings are hung and appreciated in collections throughout the world, including Europe, America, and Asia. His painting of Galway City was presented to the president by Galway Chamber of Commerce and is in the Áras an Uachtaráin collection. He has held exhibitions in Boston, USA, Dublin City and of course, a number of exhibitions in the Kenny Gallery, Galway, including one with his brother, Gabriel.
Patsy is a wonderfully sustainable artist, spending time and talent in the creation of unique works of art and individually outlining them with hand-drawn mounts. Many of his works he even framed himself. He is a truly uniquely gifted craftsman rooted in local west of Ireland culture. This Artist has also created pieces using sculpting, stained glass and pottery and has taught woodcarving from his years of experience in that medium.
A member of the local Galway Art Club for over 50 years, Patsy has encouraged and nurtured young local artists through the Club and has been passionate about the Arts in Galway for all of his adult life.
